Cardinal Wolsey. This copper plate engraving of Cardinal Wolsey was published in 1813 and was a reproduction of a copper plate engraving published by Knapton in 1750. It measures 11 x 17 1/2 inches. Wolsey was the Archbishop of York who became a cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church. When he was unable to negotiate an annulment for Henry VIII he was ultimately accused of treason and sentenced to execution, but he died on the way from York to London.
