The First Cotton-Gin. From a drawing by William L. Sheppard, this is modern hand coloring. The Savannah setting is the plantation of Gen. Nathaniel Greene, Mulberry Grove, where Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin in 1794. This was published in Harper's Weekly in 1869. The print measures 8 1/2 x 11 inches. Please note repair at top right.
