Troy Conference Academy. This uncolored wood engraving dated 1881 is part of a page relating to the Methodist Church in the U.S. On the reverse it states that the Troy Conference was organized in 1833. It established the Conference Academy in Poultney "a quiet and rural village, then as ever since, noted for its beauty, healthfulness, temperance, good order, and freedom from influences baneful to a school." The image is 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches and the page is 7 1/2 x 10 1/2 inches.
